Finally got this (almost) finished. Afew ends to sew in, buttons on properly and then a good block. I pretty much stuck to pattern on this one for a change and quite enjoyed knitting it. The aran cotton has started to soften a little already so that should feel nice when washed. I'm not one for knitting in cotton if i'm being honest but maybe once in a while isn't too bad...still prefer to crochet with it though lol

My first FO of 2011!!!!!

I've had this cardigan off the needles for ages but just couldn't find my 'finishing mojo' anywhere...and so it's been in pieces, without bands or buttons since the beginning of December *shame*
Yesterday however, I just decided to get it done and dusted and out of the way...it took me by suprise I can tell you.
Today, I finally sewed on the buttons - hoorah!!!! The pattern itself was from Womans Weekly and the finished article is for my Mum...I hope she'll be pleased with it - Love You Mummy Dearest xxxx

The bracelet was a Christmas present from Mam & Dad and I just adore the colour. I really wanted matching beads but had trouble finding Red Jasper (and the one I did find was not in my price range lol). So, I decided to try and find out if I could just buy some loose beads and this fabulous site Beadshop UK appeared.

So the beads in the picture are the ones i've made and they match perfectly = RESULT!!!!!!!!!

I've always wanted a swift. I usually end up looping my skeins, either around the knobs on my chest of drawers or the legs of an upturned chair. Neither are that great really....

Konnex are quite fab aren't they?...DH has promised to make a wooden one now lol!

This the progress of Mams cardy. I managed to get the fronts done but i'm definitely not going to have enough yarn for the sleeves - bugger! I have one 50g ball left and haven't started the bands yet.
I've decided to do the bands with the remaining ball and think of something to do with the sleeves...they are going to be very very short and Mam will have a lovely waistcoat cum gilet type of thing (hopefully).

And here's how a Doily becomes a hotpad/scrubbie and a little more useful than a Doily...I got the inspiration from frustration (I couldn't work out the origami hotpad for the life of me, now I sort of have one.)

Can I do it? well i'll give it a go...;)

I know it's not friday but i'm not going to be around tomorrow and didn't want to miss week 2!

This was taken at Damflask Resevoir...not bad for a phone pic. This place is a gem, hidden away in the peak district of South Yorkshire. It has everything from meadow to woodland - I love this place and it's 5 mile walk around the actual resevoir.
The other end of the resevoir looks like this...

So 3 for the price of 1 but I just felt the need to show a little insight ;)

It's that time of year again, ,Mam wants a new cardy lol. I'm using a cotton/bamboo mix DK in Raspberry. The pattern is out of People's Friend magazine (but I did not read any of the other stories, ads and suchlike ;)).
I'm going Polka Dot for TdeF KAL this year and hopefully it'll help me get a shufty on and get it done...failing that, Mam will kick my arse anyway :D

Yay! Go me, all finished...
Well, anyway ahem! I did go with the cro-shay and ended up doing 3 rounds of Dc/Sc(usa) on the sleeves and 5 rounds for the hem. I do like it but it needs blocking because it keeps curling up slightly st the bottom. I also knit 3 extra rounds using the 5mm needle before casting off, I don't actually know why, it bears no significance - I just did!
And they're not poofy (I didn't want poofy at all).

I just wish I could capture the colour better...in real life it's a nice leafy,sagey green, green iyswim...

Just adding todays progress...I practised a crocheted neckline (I know I haven't finished but when I found out I was going to be picking up stitches - ugh!).
Anyway I like it ;), so i'm thinking of doing the same for the bottom and the sleeves....may aswell go with it eh? lol.

I do love having Mondays off!
:D...So far i've made one Elfine socklet in Yarn Yards bonny #pick your own (well ok this is a tad a lie, cos I already had this one made but will get the other finished tomorrow - hopefully) I cast on for Rusted Root and have just got the sleeves divided today...and then I felt the need for a FO.
So...I knit up some leaves in Colinette Parisienne and some left over sock yarn. I decided to do 3 leaves in graduationg sizes and then I sewed them together in the shape of a leaf lol (I was having a creative moment)
I think it will end up as a brooch or something.
Whilst I was rootling for the little shiny button, I found a few beads so I also made some stitchmarkers. the beads are semi precious gem stone - moonstone, malachite, haematite and amethyst.

Right, i'm off in the garden now for a quick tipple in the last remaning rays of evening sun....I might have to take a few progress shots of the garden whilst i'm at it :D

Well it's not doing too badly Thanks!!!!

The pond is settling in. Hopefully, we'll adding our Carp in there soon :D

We now have our greenhouse...contents at the mo are, Tomatos (4 varieties), Lettuce, Cucumber, Radish, Spring Onion and Strawberries.
There are a few flowers but i'm not sure what DH chose.

This lovely scarf is for Juliet so she can showcase her lovely yarnGlisten which is a laceweight pure silk.
I used 2.75mm needles for this scarf because I thought it showed off the yarn better than it being too 'holey'.
The pattern is really lovely too :D It drapes like a dream, all I did was give it a light steaming and the yarn does all the work.

If you happen to be going to WonderWool Wales, you will be able to it in the flesh so to speak.

And yes...it really does Glisten :D

What A Difference A Day Makes!

Last weekend I was on the East Coast of Yorkshire....Filey was our main destination. It rained, hailed and blew a gale for nearly 2 days.
Then, almost as if by magic, this happened.

The last 2 shots are of Bridlinton Harbour. These were taken around 5:30pm, so as you can imagine, it had been a really fine day; all day.

Spring Cleaning (and knitting ;))

Well spring is the air and therefore the blog needs a bit of a lift...and I think it's just 'springy'

Now here's the update, although I haven't done much during March (Fiddlehead scarf is growing) the pic below is my 'so far' montage to the 'can you knit 24 in 2009?' over on the CTnY forum

That's 14 completed items so far...although I have to say, most are small items. Some people like terri have completed like 14 jumpers! (well almost, there might be a sock or 2 in there *wink*).

Well....that's March's post, see you in April lol!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Feeling Honoured.

That is exactly how I feel at the moment. :D I was asked recently if I would test knit a new yarn for a lovely lady called Juliet who runs Artists Palette Yarns.
The yarn in question is a laceweight pure silk called 'Glisten' and here a few piccies to prove (hopefully) that it really does take after it's name.

As is only to be expected, I have cast on for a scarf. There were 2 patterns which were chosen 'Elm Row' from Knitspot and 'Fiddlehead' also from Knitspot.
Immediately the colour of the yarn sang 'leaves' so I cast on......Fiddlehead!
Why??? I hear you ask. Well it's because of these recent FO's

Yup! I'm all leafed out...here's my start on the 'Fiddlehead scarf'

I think the second pic is nearer the actual colour. I do have 2 skeins (aren't I lucky) and I will knit up the other pattern too but I needed another pattern to break up the monotony of me liking certain stitch patterns too much lol.

Out with the old and in with the new as they say.

I wanted to post last night but my internet connection was crap and I kept getting booted, so without further ado, here's my last FO of 2008.

It's Forest Canopy Shawl. The yarn is yarn yards Caber in Asphalt (008) colourway and was a Christmas present from the very lovely Joy Thankyou very much :D
The photos are a bit pants cos they are off my phone, i'll try and get better ones soon.

And of course there's a new WIP for 2009. Again it's pattern i've done before but i've tweaked (done the math and evryfink) I've decided to join in the 'knit 24 things in 2009-along' ;)

Here's my Tree Has Got Leaves Jacket....

The yarn is from stash (i've around 600g worth of this yarn) it's sirdar aran with wool and i'm using 5mm needles.

So that's my progress so far....here's to everyone having a brilliant time in 2009!!!!!

A Flurry Of FO's.

In a mad dash to get Christmas bits and pieces finished, I feel like i'm almost done - PHEW!!! Here's the last (probably *wink*) installment from the 'C' List Reduction Unit (Me)

I actually crocheted this scarf. I really liked the colour :D DD1 suggested it looks like pickled red cabbage lol...I just thought Magenta!!

A quick pair of Ribby socks (Opalrainforest in 'Hummel' colourway, on 2.5mm needles) These were supposed to be for Christmas but he's snaffled them already.

These are for DD2 (DD1 got the 'sodding pink snowflakes - remember? ;))
Envious Hearts Illusion scarf and groovy green mitts!

And this was a stashbuster. I copied of the forest canopy cowl pattern and just kinda winged it. The yarn is a bit of leftover sock yarn, combined with some colinette parisienne. It's made it so warm (I might keep it lol) I think I used 5mm needles for the diamond bit and then 5.5mm for the edge. I ran out of yarn before I could make the edging pattern any longer - ah well nevermind.

So there you have it...wonder if i'll get more done by next week...

I used 7mm needles for this one and a cheap thick and thin yarn I got for a bargainous 49p a ball. (It's the Needles brand, 100% acrylic but looks and knits like Colinette Point 5)

Well ok, so I haven't actually done that much. Infact i've just ignored it this past week but I will have to finish it because...

...i've already picked out the buttons!!!

Though I can't actually decide which I like best. The big ones do fit the buttonholes though - incase you were wondering ;) I really like the bronze colour against the green and the bottom ones are really really lightweight plastic but do look metal.

Still diamonds are a girl best friend...they may just win out.

This is Fleuri or rather is almost Fleuri because i'm unsure of handles at the mo. I've used Robin print DK (used double stranded) and a 6mm hook.
This is said handle...still dunno.

Again not exactly finished but one down and number 2 started, so i'm getting there ;)
Dad will have socks - hurrah!

Does this look familiar??? It's another Urchin in the very last of the Colinette Prism but I used a 5.5mm needle to make it smaller.

This is my fave...the shocking pink just hits you lol. This is destined for DD1, who thinks psycadelic (and no I CAN'T spell it) pink is cool!

And a little bag with some glitter. I've just made this up as i've gone along, using up odds and ends of DK. A quick knit but another off the list!

Right i'll go find the pics for mams February Lady Sweater progress...and that can have a post of it's own ;)

These are my lovely socks that I received from Janice. They are a perfect fit and this photo doesn't do any justice to the colours or pattern.

Also included in my parcel were the following items...the shortbread is long gone!! Thankyou so very much Janice for my fantastic parcel.

Like a numpty, I forgot to take photo's of the sock parcel I sent to Hilary but if you pop over HERE you can have a look at them on her blog.

These are a FO at long last (I lost the first sock way back in June - thought it might be in Wales lol but finally found it lurking in a sad looking bag tucked away in the depths) The yarn is Fabel #901.

I just had to include Sis's completed socks...these took way too long to finish but I just got on with it, found my lost sock mojo in the process - so I have to thank her for her pestering ;)

And now there's these...

DAD SOCKS!!!!!! bigger than any sock I have ever knitted before. Thankfully he used the magic words 'thick' and 'house' which means dk, 3.75mm needle and a pretty quickly knitted man sock.

I did have a photo of Mam's february lady sweater which I started last week but I can't find it, so i'll do that tommorrow along with a few hats for the 'C list reduction' operation.

I finally finished my 'Puzzled Monkey Socks'. I started off by actually wanting to make a pair of no purl monkeys but ended up going toe up and then offsetting the pattern. I like the way it undulates (what a cracking word)up the leg.

I used TVYarn in Casablanca colourway (this is koigu base yarn - fingering merino) and 2.5mm addi turbos...love em!!

Oh yes...this was dug up in our garden at the weekend. That bottle has got 6d off the price, yup 6d - not 6p!!!! It's got to be roughly as old as me at any rate ;)
I've decided to keep it, it's only item in the house that hasn't got an email address on it...:D

Well it's start...the dreaded 'C' word will be upon us before we know it and I now have one present sorted! yay go me! and it's from stash *halo polishing as I type*

Urchin by Ysolda and a cowl of ones own creation but kinda copying Ysoldas Urchin short row effect, ok, ok, - I mean inspired by ok! ;)
I have used 7mm needles for both and made the medium sized Urchin. The yarn is Colinettes Prism in Monet colourway. I have also nearly finished a second Urchin out of the 2 skeins I had...i'm happy!

I really like this pattern and it will feature quite heavily lol

next up will be scarves, again from stash and I was supposed to be making a hot water bottle cover...I will, i'm sure someone needs one. :D

This place is just beautiful isn't it? It's the Damflask resevoir on the edge of the peak district. It's a 6 mile round walk and the views are spectacular, you get meadows, woodland, and perfect scenery from every angle. The little village it's situated next to is called Bradfield and it's the perfect olde worlde village with cricket on the green, old fashioned ice cream and ale outside the pub. All the spectators were sitting on wooden chairs eating little sandwiches (pity my battery died by then and we didn't take the camera). We shall definately be going again, and maybe to the pub ;)

Well, it's looking like thunder over here...and it's as dark as teatime! So how about a little colour injection?

It's another Forest Canopy Shawl and it's pretty bright! My intention is to make this huge to snuggle in (cos camping has been mentioned ;))

Yes after my last post I did indeed amble off and cast on for Wicked from Zephyr Style (i'll bung a link in later). However, after 4 times I thought it was not meant to be...then I realised that 8 does not go into 124 and i'd actually done it righ the first time.

It went into the depths that are 'down the side of the Sofa', but I thought about it all night and how much I liked the jumper and it's lovely little kangaroo pocket and how I could hide stuff in it's usefulness. So I decided I could have it's shape and make it mine...here it is!!

ok sorry for the disappointment of the photo...but i've done an honeycomb type of stitch instead of the cables...when I get the increases out of the way, i'll get a better shot. The Aran is quite nice (yes it is acrylic) but at £2.50 for 550g who cares, it's soft!

This little experiment was finished last week and as usual I posted pics of the finished article everywhere but here, (which means those who read here will have already seen it Doh!)

Anyhow here's Cobbled (together) Cable.

I used 200g of Grampian (remember that folks lol) DK with wool in a lovely 3colour twisted effect. I actually blagged it by using a generic top down method and 5.5mm needles. The stitch gauge is loose but not too loose so you can see your undies type of loose iyswim. It feels very light and is warm enough for British summer weather ;)

I'm actually quite liking the new set up of uploading pics...which for some reason won't work in Opera but will in AOL. So you can expect some playing around with fonts etc...I'm just going to bob off and cast on Wicked in some bargain aran I found yesterday.

Well it's finis (the tour that is ;)) I alas have not finished the Terttu shawl but then the challenge was to stick with it and not cast on for anything else, which I have done. Progress was always going to slow down as the rows got longer but I never expected it to slow down as much lol.
I've just started the 13th repeat but the weather is way too hot and sticky (i'm practically felting the poor thing in my hands - urrgh!).

Anyway seeing as the kids are off school, my time is even more limited....next post sometime in August I suppose ;)

I've never FELT this way before!

I've finally felted my Booga Bag...Hurrah!

I think it definitely will need to go back for another go but I am soooooo pleased it didn't lose it's colour or shrink that much!

I even knitted up the very last bit of the Kureyon and made a flower and a leaf. I've put the handles through and sewn the flower on already, cos I thought it would be easier to do it now and then bung it all back washer later. I'm going to see how it dries first though ;)

...I've just had to 'frog' (well only 6 rows) but i've had to do it stitch by stitch and that has taken me longer than it did to knit them Grrrr!!!

TdeF KAL Part Deux

Well, it has grown a little...but there's still a lot of that mountain to climb!
(I know i'm here but i'll get on with it - promise! ;))

I also finished crocheting this bag last night...

cos I do need to concentrate on my lace and this was something to do whilst watching telly. I sort made it up from various patterns but the bottom bit was supposed to be the Acorn project bag but I was way out and couldn't a good fit with my lid. So...I just copied a market bag top and Voila! (also crocheted a phone pocket, cos a girl needs to accesorize ( soz crappy spelling).

Right, back to it!!!!!! chop chop!

Well after a lot of searching of the name 'Terttu' is Finnish. So, I hear you ask ;) "How does this fit into a french theme?"
Well we were told that we could be quite obscure so here goes lol. I have found this blog Paris Breakfasts who has a friend called Terttu!!! I mean honestly i've tried so hard to get a link and there were the 2...Bonne Chance!

Ok it's a bit weak I know...but I really do want to *'finnish' my shawl tada!!!!

This is my progress so far for the Tour de France Knitalong
I chose the polks dot option and I'm in Team Liquigas.
The pattern is the Terttu Shawl and it can be seen Here - Rav link

I'm using 3.75mm circular and a handpainted laceweight from Uruguay. It's for a friend who has been told not to peek lol (wonder if she will though - bets anyone? ;)

Oh yes i'm in and raring to go. Piccy's to follow as it really doesn't start till tomorrow.
(but seeing as I totally failed to blog in June, i'm in need of an immediate excuse for July ;))

On yeah i've finished a sock...

It's a toe up monkey sock but I only had 50g of an unknown, lable lost ball, so it's ended up a trainer sock.
I used a 2.5mm 30cm circ and a 40cm for the heel.
I so wish I had smaller feet (and bigger boobs lol)

This was my April entry in the sock yarn project 2008 over at the CTnY Forum...there really wasn't an excuse for not posting this last month...and i'm not making any now lol.
The razor cami was a really quick knit and I think it looks gorgeous in n's (The Yarn Yard) caber (or bamboo as it was known).The colour is called 'kyoto' and I love it.

And baby socks in opal uni...my slightly purple phase kicking in. :D

AND NOW FOR SOMETHING COMPLETELY THE SAME...SOCKS!!!!!!!

Finally...Mum got her Zokni Socks. I just gave up on these for a while but then got my mojo and finished the second sock in record time (well ok that's a lie, the pair took me far too long but I was easily distracted by everything else).

Then I went mad and did the kids a pair each...

Photo is a bit blurry but from left to right, DS, DD2 and DD1.

These are DS' ribbed socks in kaffe fassets mirage (regia) in earth colourway. I managed to get the pair out of one 50g ball, so he has enough for another pair...

and here are the girls trainers socks...plain and simple with a short row heel and judy's magic cast on for the toe. I've also got the hang on the zig zag cast off and it's brill, nice and stretchy.

Well that's all folks! I have to go and finish a small Forest Canopy Shawl for my niece to wear on her christening, do another pocket book slipper and think about felting my Booga bag...:D

These were made tonight by my eldest DD and she has definitely put me to shame. I think she has done a fantastic job...not long before a sunday dinner then ;)

BOOGA BAG...

So I still haven't felted yet but then I only made it yesterday :D. It always makes me chuckle the name Booga...especially since I found it was another name for a Bogie...heh heh heh, i've made a Bogie Bag ;)
